One Month!

Mallorie is ONE MONTH OLD! Oh my goodness...how time flies when you're having fun.  A little bit about Mallorie...

Sleep:
  • I feel blessed with the amount of sleep we are getting.  I know some babies are sleeping through the night by now and we are not there yet, but we do get to sleep so I say that is a blessing.  Most nights we put you to bed around 9:30.  You will wake up to eat around 12, 3, and 6.  Since you have been born you have slept at night pretty well.  We have had the occasional night where it seems like we are up every hour to eat, but for the most part you sleep pretty well.
  • During the day when I get you to sleep and try to lay you down your pretty eyes open as soon as I let my hands go from you.  It is a tricky process to get you to stay asleep sometimes.
  • During the day you sleep best if someone is holding you. You like to snuggle.
  • There is like a 5 min. window to get you to sleep after you eat.  If we miss that then you will fight going to sleep.  You have a temper sometimes..lol.  You will kick and hit at us. I don't know if you get that from Nathan or me.  I don't think either of us have a big temper...but, if you get us mad enough you can see a not so pretty side.
  • You slept in your crib last night for the 1st time!- You did awesome!
Eating:
  • You have the most consistent eating schedule at night.  You eat about every 3 hours--sometimes more, sometimes less.
  • During the day you eat about every 2 hours--some days you like to eat more often than that though.
Movements:
  • You are getting very strong- you move your head very well and even try to kick off of us with your feet.
Likes/Dislikes:
  • You love bath time- you can be very upset and we will put you in the bath and you instantly calm down.
  • You do not like a dirty diaper (of course-- who would)
  • You are still not a fan of the pacifier, but you love to suck on your hand (cutest thing ever)!
  • You love to stand in front of the fan
  • You prefer to be bounced/walked around to be put to sleep rather than be rocked
  • You took about a 30 min.nap in your swing the other day---so a little improvement in this area.
  • You still do pretty good in the car- We will be taking our first trip soon to visit my sister and the boys so we will see how that goes.
Moment of truth:
  •  There have been some times where I second guess myself if I'm doing everything right for you.
  • I have read other peoples blogs and what there babies are doing right now and I love seeing the progress everyone makes, but it is also hard not to compare.
  • I used to teach and I was thinking about my comparing babies the other day when I realized that I would preach everyday to my kids that we are all DIFFERENT--and THANK GOODNESS for that or it would be a boring world!  There is no reason to second guess ourselves as moms when our baby doesn't do something the same way as another baby.  I am happy my Mallorie is her own person- I love her dearly whether she wants to eat every 10 min. or not sleep at all.  She is MINE and I love her no matter what.

  1. I still compare myself all the time and second guess myself! But, I know that as long as I love these babies as much as I can and try my hardest that I'm doing it the way I'm supposed to. Those hard days will definitely get to you but just keep confident! I know you are an amazing mama! Mallorie is growing so much and is such a cutie! I can't wait to see her again sometime soon! CAll me if you need anything
